A Mentor’s Gift was an exhibition at Public Space One in Iowa City from December 9, 2022 - January 7, 2023. The show consisted of 10 stations, each with a copper or plexiglass plate, tools, and a prompt. Open to the public, the exhibition encouraged participants to make marks on the plate without fear of making a mistake. Toward the end of the show, the plates were collected, and through two additional community events, were printed by the public at the Iowa City Press Coop with instruction provided as needed. The purpose of the show was to demonstrate the simple beauty of line and texture and to reiterate the fact that we can all be artists if we let go of the self-doubt that often keeps us from trying.
The Witness Wall is a collaboration with Public Space One in Iowa City. In the midst of the COVID pandemic in 2020, the wall was erected to allow artists to express themselves in a safe, open-air environment. Over the course of several years, the wall has evolved to address other pertinent issues.
